Intellectual Disability – theory and practice

The course will offer an introduction to genetics and neurobiology of Intellectual disabilities – clinical features, assessment methods and research.  The signs and symptoms of the disorders will be presented and different assessment methods, interviews and observation instruments. The course includes 6 hours of lectures and discussions and 6 hours of practical activities – case studies, observations, case discussions, interviews with parents.

10.00 – 13.30 Intellectual Disability Syndromes, chromosome abnormalities, Down syndrome – 2 academic hours /lectures, discussions/

14.30 – 16.00 Internship – Intellectual disability – daycare center – 4 hours training includes interview with parents and assessment methods
