Taking place in Sofia from 18 – 20 November 2026, the Summit will bring together the ERUA community for three days of strategic discussions, governance meetings, workshops, networking and community activities.

The programme features a rich range of sessions, including discussions on ERUA’s continuity post-2027, educational innovation, Work Package coordination, student engagement, sustainability, democracy and civic participation. Participants will also have opportunities to exchange good practices, showcase ERUA achievements and connect across the Alliance.

Three days of exchange, collaboration and strategic discussions

The Summit opens on Wednesday, 18 November, with a welcome event hosted by New Bulgarian University, followed by the official opening with ERUA management, Rectors and invited officials. Thursday, 19 November focuses on Strategy and Coordination, while the final Summit day, Friday, 20 November, focuses on Implementation and Community.

A programme that puts the ERUA community at its heart

Student participation is a strong feature throughout the programme. From workshops and networking activities to discussions on democracy, sustainability and the future of universities, students will have multiple opportunities to contribute their perspectives and engage with staff, stakeholders and university leadership.

The Summit will also showcase ERUA’s achievements through an ERUA achievements installation, running throughout the main Summit days.

While the core Summit programme takes place from 18 to 20 November, the wider ERUA programme in Sofia begins earlier, with project workshops, the PATHS Program Team Meeting, the Vice-Rectors for Internationalization Council, the Student Board Workshop and an Academic Innovation Workshop on 16–17 November. The programme extends beyond the Summit itself with a Shared Humanity Experience (Human Rights Competition) on Saturday, 21 November.
