A new call is now open for academics from the eight ERUA member universities to submit proposals for Innovative Teaching Initiatives that promote cross-border collaboration, align with ERUA’s values, and contribute to a transformative educational experience.
ERUA brings together 8 European universities: European University of Viadrina (Germany), New Bulgarian University (Bulgaria), Paris 8 University (France), SWPS University (Poland), University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain), University of Macerata (Italy), University of Mykolas Romeris (Lithuania) and University of the Aegean (Greece).
Once more, you can partner up with members of the other ERUA Universities and develop an innovative academic initiative. Our mission is to address contemporary global challenges by bringing together students and academics from across Europe and from all socio- economic backgrounds, contributing to a more just, open, and inclusive society.
We are developing different types of teaching initiatives: travelling seminars, online semester courses, summer and winter schools, and intensive courses. To ensure academic recognition and pedagogical value, online semester courses, seasonal schools, and intensive courses must be designed to provide a minimum of 3 ECTS credits. Travelling seminars must either award at least 3 ECTS credits or be integrated into a larger course carrying a minimum of 3 ECTS credits.
This requirement encourages the use of innovative teaching methodologies such as project- based learning, collaboration, problem-solving, and gamification, as outlined in our Academic Innovation Manual (ERUA WP2 Deliverable D2.2).
To support you in designing your course, a Guide to Designing a 3 ECTS ERUA Course is available. It provides guidance on the required course structure, learning outcomes, ECTS calculation, and pedagogical approach. An annexed document will provide examples of previous initiatives to help you better understand the types of activities supported within the ERUA framework.
You will also find the specific features of each initiative, which should be taken into account when preparing your project, in the Call document.
When submitting your application, please make sure to complete the ERUA Course Creation Template, the standardised template used across the Alliance.
Recognition of ERUA Activities for Students
Upon completion of the initiative, the ERUA certificate will be issued, in line with the European Commission’s recommendations on micro-credentials. ERUA aims to strengthen the academic value of innovative education within the courses developed by the Alliance and enhance the meaningful engagement of students. We seek to promote transversal competences, soft skills, and student-centred learning approaches that actively integrate student feedback.
