Last Thursay 26 March in Paris, a pivotal foresight workshop marked a key milestone in shaping ERUA’s long-term strategy. Representatives from partner universities came together to envision what ERUA could become by 2040, engaging in forward-thinking discussions that will help guide its future direction.
Through a series of interactive sessions, participants engaged in forward-looking discussions to reflect on emerging societal, technological, and educational trends, and to collectively imagine what ERUA could become in the decades ahead. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to align perspectives, strengthen cooperation, and foster a shared vision for the alliance’s development.

The workshop was led by Nikos Kastrinos and Ellen De Vos, whose expertise in strategic foresight and innovation helped guide this collaborative process. Dr. Kastrinos, Senior Fellow at the Global Governance Institute and former European Commission official, has extensive experience in shaping EU research and innovation policy through foresight methodologies. Ellen De Vos is a researcher in design and futures studies, focusing on participatory approaches and creative methods to support collaborative scenario-building and the exploration of alternative futures.

The outcomes of the workshop contributes to defining ERUA’s long-term strategy, supporting the alliance in addressing future challenges and opportunities while reinforcing its role within the European higher education landscape.
