About ERUA courses
ERUA teaching initiatives respond to today’s global challenges by bringing together students and academics from across Europe and from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Through collaboration, innovation, and shared academic values, they contribute to the transformation towards a more just, open, and inclusive society.
At ERUA, innovation in teaching goes beyond traditional lectures. It embraces dynamic and student-centred approaches such as project-based learning, collaborative work, problem-solving, and gamified learning. These pedagogical principles underpin the alliance’s shared vision for high-quality, future-oriented education.
To turn this vision into practice, ERUA supports a wide range of innovative teaching formats, including intensive courses (LINK), online semester courses (LINK), and summer and winter schools (LINK). Open to all ERUA students, these initiatives allow learners to enrich their study programmes at their home universities by taking courses offered across the alliance. They also offer opportunities to explore new disciplines and gain an international learning experience—either through physical mobility or by engaging in cross-border education from home.
To ensure the academic quality, pedagogical innovation, and alignment of teaching initiatives with ERUA’s shared standards and strategic objectives, the alliance has established a dedicated body responsible for their evaluation and approval: the ERUA Teaching Initiatives Approval Committee.
ERUA Teaching Initiatives Approval Committee
The ERUA Teaching Initiatives Approval Committee (TIAC) was established to support, evaluate, and strengthen the alliance’s shared educational offer. Its mission is to ensure that teaching initiatives developed across member universities are innovative, student-centred, and aligned with ERUA’s values and long-term strategy.
Role and Purpose
TIAC reviews pedagogical proposals submitted by partner institutions — including intensive courses, semester courses, and summer or winter schools.
The Committee’s purpose is to encourage high-quality and collaborative teaching initiatives, providing constructive feedback and helping each project align with ERUA’s collective vision.
TIAC also lays the foundation for the future ERUA Label, which will reinforce cooperation within the alliance and support the harmonised development of microcredentials.
TIAC contributes to building ERUA as a cohesive educational space by:
- Ensuring that initiatives reflect ERUA’s academic vision and strategic goals
- Serving as the final approval stage after internal evaluations at each university
- Providing detailed feedback to improve quality, consistency, and impact
- Supporting academics in refining the alliance’s joint educational offering
Through this work, the Committee plays a central role in shaping ERUA’s long-term pedagogical strategy.
Composition
The Committee is composed of:
- One representative from each of the eight ERUA partner universities, appointed by their Vice-Rectors for Education
- One student representative, elected by the ERUA Student Board
Members are academics or professionals with strong expertise in developing educational initiatives and a deep understanding of the ERUA project.
