To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25th November), the ULPGC, in collaboration with ERUA, is organising an international round table dedicated to highlighting the role of women in universities and reflecting on the challenges that still remain in terms of equality.

The event will take place online on November 25,  at 4:00 p.m. (WEST).

The activity focuses on the situation of women in STEM careers compared to the humanities, exploring differences, challenges, and opportunities in different fields of knowledge. This initiative, promoted by ULPGC students, seeks to create a safe and pluralistic space where women from different universities in the ERUA alliance can share their experiences in STEM and humanities fields. The meeting aims to encourage dialogue, listening, and the collective construction of proposals that contribute to a more egalitarian university.

During the session, issues such as the following will be addressed:

  • The presence and visibility of women in academia;
  • Structural barriers and gender biases that continue to exist;
  • The intersection between gender, research, and teaching;
  • The role of universities in preventing violence and promoting equality.

The panel will feature speakers from various ERUA institutions, who will offer complementary perspectives based on their academic and professional backgrounds.

ERUA invites the entire university community of member universities and all interested parties to join and participate in this activity.
