ERUA is happy to announce a Semester course Innov’ARTE – The representation of the world from ancient art to medieval art at the Paris 8 University. The Course will start on the 18th of February and will continue until the 15th of April 2025. The course will be held in French and will take place online for the international students and on-site for the students of Paris 8University.
This art theory course offers a study of the artistic production of ancient civilizations (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Roman civilization, as well as China and India) up to the medieval period in Europe. Through a chronological narrative and an interdisciplinary approach, the course will analyse the most significant artistic forms, with thematic focuses on the individual, society, and beliefs. With the support of Arte Campus, we will examine historical documentaries on some of the most important monuments in history, which will allow us to have engaging conversations about the themes covered in the course.
Assessment and grading:
The successful completion of the course will grant the students an ERUA certificate. The final exam will consist of a handwritten essay on a topic already discussed in class. Students will have two hours to complete it without access to the internet.
Who can apply:
The course is open for 20 ERUA first or second year of undergraduate (BA) students in the arts or humanities with excellent command of French language.
If you want to deepen your knowledge of art history while expanding your way of thinking, this course is perfect for you!
