Call for Applications: re:constitution Fellowships 2026/27.
Within the framework of the ERUA Alliance, we are pleased to share an opportunity to undertake postdoctoral research through re:constitution, a joint programme of Forum Transregionale Studien (ERUA Associated Partner) and Democracy Reporting International, funded by Stiftung Mercator.
The programme is open to early-career researchers (PhD holders within ten years of completion or doctoral candidates close to finishing), as well as professionals (lawyers, public administration officials, NGO professionals, journalists, etc.) working on issues related to democracy and the rule of law.
Thematic focus: Democracy and the rule of law in Europe.
What fellows will do: Fellows will carry out an independent research project on a topic of their choice (aligned with the programme’s thematic focus), including a research stay at one or two host institutions in Europe and participation in meetings and exchange activities with the programme’s international, interdisciplinary community.
📅 Programme duration: October 2026 – July 2027
💶 Financial support (where applicable):
€2,500 per month for full-time participation
€1,250 per month for part-time participation
