Call for applications: New Students to join the Blue Commission

ERUA has opened a new call for applications for students interested in joining the Blue Commission, a collaborative workspace focused on promoting sustainability and environmental practices in higher education.
The Blue Commission, which has been active for a year, brings together students from ERUA alliance universities with a common goal: to place sustainability at the heart of university priorities. Through the exchange of experiences, perspectives and knowledge from different contexts and disciplines, the commission promotes concrete actions to tackle the climate crisis from within the academic environment.
Objectives of the Blue Commission
  • To promote the introduction of specific measures that foster sustainability in higher education, taking the ERUA Student Manifesto for Sustainable Higher Education as a reference.
  • To share and analyse the different climate challenges affecting the countries that make up the alliance, in order to develop effective actions at the local and university level.
  • To involve students in initiatives that promote sustainability on campuses and in cities, encouraging active citizenship through practices such as the circular economy.
In addition, the Blue Commission designs and develops sustainable projects and activities, such as clothing exchanges, workshops, talks with experts and other actions.
Participation requirements
The call is open to undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students from all ERUA universities with an interest in sustainability and the environment. Motivation, the ability to actively engage in projects and a multidisciplinary approach will be particularly valued.
Each university must propose at least two students, who will participate in face-to-face and online meetings, collaborate in the implementation of the Manifesto, organise activities, contact experts and help mobilise the student community at local and European level.
How to participate
Interested individuals should complete the registration form by 23rd January 2026. A team of students who are already part of the Blue Commission will then make the selection, ensuring a diversity of profiles and areas of expertise. Those selected will be informed in the days following the closing date of the call.
