In the era of digital technology, the labor market is undergoing a dynamic transformation. The seminar “Competencies of the Future” was designed to demonstrate to students from the five member universities of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) that soft skills and adaptability are just as important as practical professional skills. The event was organized by the Faculty of Psychology and Law in Poznań, from November 24–27, 2025, as part of ERUA’s ongoing educational initiatives.
European cooperation and collaborative learning
The goal of the “Skills for the Future” seminar was to provide young people with a space to exchange experiences, develop practical competencies, and build international networks. This aligns closely with the core mission of ERUA, which promotes mobility, inter-university cooperation, and the collective development of students within a broader European perspective.
The seminar brought together students from the following ERUA member universities:
- European University Viadrina, Germany
- New Bulgarian University, Bulgaria
- SWPS University, Poland
- University of Macerata, Italy
- University Paris 8, France

Interaction – The key to success
The intimate group size of 20 participants fostered an atmosphere of close collaboration, openness, and mutual support. Participants highly valued the opportunity to establish relationships with peers from different countries, exchange unique perspectives, and build a network that will undoubtedly prove beneficial in their future academic and professional endeavors.
Additionally, during their stay in Poznań, the students had the opportunity to experience the local culture firsthand. They visited the Christmas market, tasted regional specialties such as the famous St. Martin’s croissants and traditional duck with steamed potatoe dumplings, all set against a beautiful, snowy winter backdrop.

This course was a varied and interesting experience, with a distinctly international character, which I greatly appreciated. Moreover, it helped me strengthen my ability to communicate, operate, and collaborate in multicultural settings, something that I consider increasingly important.
Melika Khangoli, student from the University of Macerata, Italy
My experience in Poznań was incredibly enjoyable! I absolutely loved spending time with everyone, familiarizing myself with different cultures, experiencing the Polish Christmas snow, and making new friends. It helped that the course’s objective was based on teamwork, and mutual trust and respect. I would advise every student to sign up, at some point, and attend similar programs to experience how much you can truly learn about yourself and others, and how you can implement other people’s experiences in your own life and how beneficial that can be.
Laurie Meza, student from the University Paris 8, France
Thank you for allowing me to participate in such an eye-opening course. During this time, I developed in areas I had no idea about before. Meeting people from such diverse cultural backgrounds made me realize the importance of treating everyone without judgment and listening openly. First and foremost I had an opportunity to practice my English. Secondly, I learned useful tools that help me learn effectively, especially AI tools and CV writing. From now on I will take every possible opportunity to participate in such courses
