ERUA is announcing a Creative Expression Contest to highlight the upcoming ERUA day.
All students are invited to express the core values of ERUA (the European Reform University Alliance) through poetry, photography, short reel videos, or drawing.
Your work should reflect ideas such as:
- Inclusiveness and diversity;
- Multilingualism and cultural exchange;
- Democratic values and open dialogue;
- Creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking;
- European cooperation and solidarity.
You may interpret these ideas freely, through personal stories, cultural reflections, or abstract imagery.
Categories:
You may submit one entry in one or more of the following categories:
- Poetry: a written poem in English (you may include short phrases in other languages);
- Photography: an original photo that visually represents the theme;
- Reel / Short Video: up to 60 seconds, in any style (spoken word, documentary, artistic montage, short-film, etc.);
- Drawing / Illustration: any visual artwork (digital or hand-drawn) expressing the ERUA spirit.
Format:
- Poetry
Language: English (with short multilingual phrases allowed)
Length: up to 30 lines or 300 words
Form: any style (free verse, rhyme, haiku, prose poetry, etc.)
Title: optional, but encouraged - Photography / Drawing
File format: JPEG or PNG
Resolution: at least 1080p
Title and short description (max. 100 words) encouraged - Reel/ Video
Length: up to 60 seconds
Format: MP4 or downloadable link
Spoken languages: any (English subtitles required if not in English)
You do not use copyrighted music, images, or footage from other sources unless they are royalty-free or properly licensed.

Draw inspiration from:
- Your experience as a European student or researcher;
- Encounters between cultures and languages;
- The idea of “unity in diversity”;
- Academic freedom and the power of knowledge;
- Sustainability, solidarity, or social justice;
Evaluation Criteria:
A local jury at each ERUA university will evaluate submissions based on:
- Relevance to ERUA values;
- Originality and creativity;
- Emotional and artistic impact;
- Quality of language, imagery, or composition.
Timeline:
Submission deadline: 8th December
Announcement of winners: ERUA Day, 12th December
ERUA Day event: Winning works will be showcased and presented

Prizes:
Each participating university will select one winner per category.
All winning works will be published on the ERUA website, social media and magazine Catch-Up
