Description of the course
This course will explore the whole process of psychological harassment, from the very beginning of manipulation, whether in the workplace or in any other context. It will study the various steps which lead to mental abuse and teach how to protect from it.
Through case studies, the course will explore all manipulation techniques, such as foot-in-the-door tactic, first impact “seduction”, double-bind messages, destabilization by inconsistency, guilt induction, etc. It will also study the victim profile, the effects on his/her psyche and mental health. Finally, through concrete advice, the course will update the psychological resources to get out of a toxic relationship, whether professional, sentimental or other.
Learning outcomes
As a student, you will bring your own experience in having faced such situations in the past, should it be personally or through other people, at the workplace or in any other context.
By participating in this course, you will:
• develop practical skills in psychological harassment
- strengthen your ability to critically analyze other people’s behavior
- develop a special awareness of psychosocial risks at the workplace, and their prevention
- gain hands-on experience in protecting yourself from being manipulated
Assessment methods
This course is not based on assessment procedures. During each session, part of the time will be dedicated to possible questions and experiential feed-back.
Why You Should Apply:
This course will help you better understand manipulation and psychological harassment process, exploring its mechanisms and issues. It’s particularly useful for university students, who will be introduced in workplace environment in the next future, needing to be aware of psychosocial risks.
Who can apply
This course is open to any ERUA students and no previous specific knowledge is required. The course is particularly suited to those interested in conflict resolution and psychosocial risks.
