ERUA Showcases Reform Vision at EAIE 2025 in Gothenburg

The European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) made its debut as an exhibitor at EAIE 2025 in Gothenburg, marking the occasion with its first booth at Stand 79. The presence highlighted ERUA’s reform-driven philosophy and its commitment to the societal impact of universities.

Driving Reform and Societal Progress

ERUA presented its three guiding priorities:

  • Reform at Our Core – advancing inclusivity, critical thinking, and student-centered learning.
  • Breaking Boundaries – linking Social Sciences, Humanities & Arts with STEM to tackle global challenges.
  • Shaping a Human-Centered Europe – promoting social innovation, lifelong learning, and civic engagement.

Students were at the forefront, with ERUA Ambassadors and initiatives such as the ERUA Student Magazine and Young Forum for Action on Climate Change illustrating how students act as co-creators of the alliance.

Faces of ERUA: A Human Dimension

A booth highlight was the Faces of ERUA display, designed by students. It offered a strong visual reminder that alliances are not abstract projects but living communities of students, staff, and researchers working toward a common vision.

Stronger Together in FOREU4ALL

ERUA emphasized its role within FOREU4ALL, where it leads the topical group on quality assurance and contributes as a board member. This collaboration underlines the importance of European partnerships in research and education as engines of social progress and prosperity.

Looking Ahead

Key discussions focused on joint degrees, innovative learning, short mobility schemes, SSH-STEM collaboration, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and the sustainability of alliances. Challenges around systemic change and long-term funding were recognized, but so was the momentum generated by the recent European Parliament motion “A New Vision for the European University Alliances.”

A Milestone Participation

For ERUA, EAIE 2025 was more than an exhibition: it was an opportunity to strengthen connections, spark new collaborations, and reaffirm its role in shaping the future of higher education in Europe.
