The University of the Aegean in collaboration with SWPS University invite students from all ERUA member institutions to apply for an interdisciplinary winter school focusing on Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.

The program aims to bring together students from diverse academic backgrounds and study levels to explore inclusive and equitable quality education through lectures, workshops, field visits, and collaborative projects. The course highlights three joint master’s programs, Psychology of Climate ActionInternational Law and Post-Conflict Reconstruction, and Forced Migration Studies, and emphasizes applying interdisciplinary approaches to global sustainability challenges.

The winter school will take place in parallel with the ERUA Summit 2025, on-site, in Mytilene, Lesvos, Greece, from November 3 to 7, 2025. The program offers 3 ECTS credits and is conducted entirely in English.

Throughout the program, participants will engage in lectures, field trips, workshops, and student-led activities that develop critical thinking, teamwork, and practical skills for advancing quality education aligned with sustainable development goals. Assessment includes participation, a public presentation, and a final project report.

Selection Criteria

We anticipate selecting between 40 and 80 ERUA student participants, depending on the quality of applications received. Selection will be based on the applicant’s motivation and interest in sustainability, interdisciplinary learning, and commitment to active participation throughout the program. Involvement and /or interaction with ERUA and other students’ activities will be appreciated.

Eligibility

Students from the 3rd year of bachelor studies and all higher academic levels, across disciplines within the ERUA network, are welcome to apply. B2 level certificate in English is a prerequisite.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Analyze the interconnections between quality education (SDG 4) and other sustainable development challenges including climate action, legal frameworks, and migration.
  2. Evaluate diverse approaches to implementing quality education initiatives across different cultural and socioeconomic contexts.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of how interdisciplinary perspectives strengthen responses to complex global challenges.
  4. Articulate the value of ERUA Alliance educational partnerships in creating innovative solutions to sustainability challenges.
  5. Apply critical thinking skills to evaluate the role of specialized higher education in advancing sustainable development.
