Common vision of ERUA — Management Committee meets in Brussels

The Management Committee of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) met in Brussels to discuss the key aspects of the alliance governance and review its actions plans for the upcoming months. Some important aspects discussed during the meeting addressed student and academic staff mobility — how to increase such opportunities, and the organization of the upcoming ERUA Summit, which will take place at the University of the Aegean, in Greece, in November 2025.

This time, the ERUA’s Management Committee, which includes the Secretary General Bruna Vives and main project coordinators from all eight member universities and students, met in the offices of the Representation of the Land Brandenburg to the European Union in Brussels, between 12 and 13 March 2025. For the march meeting, the Committee invited students to hear their input concerning crucial aspects of ERUA initiatives.

Meeting participants discussed the key aspects of the alliance management and the progress in achieving strategic objectives of ERUA. They shared good practices of management, planned upcoming milestones, and ensured that April 20205 deliverables are on track. They also talked about the strategy for building the ERUA community and the organization of the upcoming ERUA Summit, which will take place in the fall 2025 at the University of the Aegean in Greece. The Committee further deliberated how to increase student and academic staff mobility and ERUA’s activities in the key strategic areas, which include migration, exile and refugees; environmental transition; democracy & human rights, inclusion & gender equality; interculturality, multilingualism; and arts and margins.

ERUA puts students at the center of its initiatives, therefore students took active part in these discussions. They shared their ideas and insightful feedback concerning future development of the alliance and organization of the upcoming events. Student participation enriched the discussion by providing the important perspective of the people who are indispensable members of the academic community and beneficiaries of the university system.

The meeting was an important step in furthering the development of ERUA and strengthening cooperation between the alliance members. It also engaged students in shaping the future of ERUA.
