The 12th of December has been a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and the shared vision that unites the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA). From the inspiring speeches to the dynamic hackathon that will take place on the 14th, the ERUA Day has showcased the essence of what ERUA represents—a community committed to creating impact through education, research, and collective action.
Prof. Inga Žalėnienė, Rector of Mykolas Romeris University, reminded us of the transformative journey sparked by the vision of universities as architects of European unity. Her words highlighted ERUA’s role in fostering shared values like democracy, the rule of law, and lifelong learning. She emphasized that ERUA is not just a project but an enduring alliance shaping the future of Europe.
“ERUA embodies this idea by fostering connections among students, academics, researchers, administrators and institutions, creating a deep sense of belonging and unity that transcends borders!”
Bruna Vives, ERUA’s Secretary General, took us on a journey through the alliance’s milestones over the past year, celebrating achievements like improved governance, student inclusion, multilingualism, and strategic planning for 2030.
“Today here at Paris 8—the birthplace of ERUA—I feel deeply motivated as I reflect on how far we’ve come this year and the incredible potential that lies ahead.”
Her reflections reminded us of the power of collaboration and the exciting opportunities ahead for ERUA to drive meaningful change in Europe.
“Today, as celebrations take place across our partner universities, we aim to grow our strong community of innovators and change-makers, determined to make our voices and actions resonate—within our universities, local and regional communities, and across Europe. Together, let us strive to build a more inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous Europe”, Bruna Vives concluded.
As Zuzanna Siwińska, a student representative, expressed, ERUA is about more than education:
“ERUA is giving us the opportunity to truly be European students. To become a community, to meet other people, and to connect. To not be left alone on the sidelines, but to build bridges. ERUA is a space of creation and possibilities.”
