International Summer School for Doctoral Students (R1) from SWPS University and Other ERUA Member Universities, with the Participation of ERUA Mentors

SWPS University, as an active member of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), is the organizer of the “International Summer School for Doctoral Students (R1) from SWPS University and Other ERUA Member Universities, with the Participation of ERUA Mentors” program.

 

The goal of our Summer School is to support the development of transversal skills of early stage researchers (R1) and provide them with an opportunity for individual consultation sessions with acclaimed researchers from the EURA academic community.

Program

During our 5-day Summer School you will:

  • Learn how to obtain financing from granting institutions operating in the project funding ecosystem
  • Improve your academic writing skills
  • Gain digital skills and learn how to use AI capabilities in research practice
  • Learn the art of self-presentation and career development
  • Learn about the concept of Open Science
  • Understand research ethics
  • Gain research project management skills.

Individual consultations and workshops

You will also:

  • Participate in individual consultations sessions, concerning their research projects, with experienced mentors from ERUA member universities who specialize in social sciences, humanities and design
  • Take part in teambuilding and networking workshops.

  1. Improve professional visibility and enjoy a wider impact of your research projects. You will learn to build your academic image, optimize academic profiles, and use social media for effective research-related communication and development of international academic network.
  2. Develop your research management and career planning skills. Our workshops will provide you with tools for effective management of research projects, publication planning, obtaining funds, as well as navigating the multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.
  3. Learn about research ethics and responsible use of technology in research. You will increase your awareness of research ethics, intellectual property rights, and responsible use of technology, inducing the use AI in literature search.
  4. Develop communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills. You will learn to construct clear and convincing research argumentation, work in international teams, and effective presentation skills, including presenting to different audiences.
  5. Learn how to cope with stress and build resilience. You will learn practical techniques of emotion and stress management in academic context, which will help with the long-term motivation and psychological well-being.
  6. Work with experienced mentors and benefit from career counselling You will have an opportunity to work with experienced mentors and expand your knowledge about research methodology, refine your research project, and benefit from career counselling.

 

Funding

  • The Summer School is free for doctoral students from ERUA member universities. SWPS University will provide a flat rate subsidy to cover a stipend as well as travel, accommodation and living expenses for the duration of the 5-day summer school.
  • For SWPS University doctoral students who do not live in Warsaw, the university will cover the cost of travel and accommodation in Warsaw for the duration of the Summer.
